L’Abadia de Quito is a newcomer and I cannot emphasize enough how pleasantly surprised I was by it. A Dutch friend recommended me this place, and at first I was very apprehensive as it was hard to find. But once there, the atmosphere and incredible Belgian-style beer made me love it.
This is the only brewery that makes white beer (my favorite for summer). They have a nice selection of craft beer, wine, mate tea and really good food; such as flammkuchen, empanadas, hams and cheese. The general feeling and mood of the place is really nice, the bar looks like a Sandinavian café with light wood and decorated with plants. It has a small terrace overlooking the park and the beer factory right next to it.
Finding it: Go to the main park on the Ladron de Guevara street, where all the street vendors are selling food. You will find a bulding with a million bright signs for Ferreterias. Well… It’s there. Go up the stairs and to the left. Once you find it it’s easy, it just gets lost among all that visual craziness.
