Jervis opened one month ago in Cumbaya (it’s in the small street next to Pim’s), and it is a place truly needed in Cumbaya. They have great coffee, tasty food and delicious desserts! They have a long coffee menu, both hot and cold options, from ristretto to coffee with ice cream. Food-wise they have sandwiches, soups and sweets options like cakes, cookies, tiramisu biscotti and more… They also have other beverages such as juices, sodas and beer, but I always go for their coffee… There is a very special one I had never seen before: smoke coffee, which is a macchiato infused by the smoke of burnt rosemary. It is presented with the smoke capture by a larger glass on top of your coffee, so the foam can absorb all the flavours… If you order a black coffee though, they are all served Italian style: with a shot of water on the side. Tip! This is done to cleanse your palate. When they serve it to you, you drink half of the water shot and then your coffee. If you like the flavour of your coffee, you finish the water between coffee sips. But if you don’t like it, you leave it for the end so it cleanses your palate again and you don’t leave with the coffee flavour in your mouth.
The decoration in this place is really nice and hipster, but in the best sense of the word… The walls are exposed brick, they have a carton deer head, an old type writing machine and a lot of details that make it oh so very special..
